Successful completion of the Certificate course is required before work offshore as an Offshore Medic is permitted

A flexible, structured and comprehensive programme with full tutor support allowing participants to learn at their own pace during the distance learning components

 

Distance learning element contains:

Þ 40 medical units prepared in user-friendly formats with self-assessment questions

 

Þ Medical subjects include Acute Chest Pain, Trauma Injuries, Cold Water Immersion, Death Management

 

Þ 6 Assignments to be marked by the Tutor to ensure that the written material has been fully understood and that maximum benefit will be obtained from the practical skills sessions

 

Þ Accompanying DVD demonstrating the Role of the Offshore Medic, how to perform a Clinical Examination, the Casualty Handling and Transportation of Patients and the Joints and Skeletal System

 

Þ Full tutor support by telephone, fax or e-mail

 

Þ Reference Material including The Offshore Installations & Pipeline Works (First Aid) Regulations 1989 Approved Code of Practice entitled:  Health care and first aid on offshore installations and pipeline works
